they do, its just not a good play. it will still cost political capital to move on it that they'd rather spend elsewhere. they also make themselves targets if they address it before the other huge problems emphasized throughout the campaigns.

Yeah Will made the comment to me that maybe this response was more delivered with a wink, especially in light of the most recent round of this stuff. I just don't understand why they think they don't have the political backing to move on it... This economy is the perfect excuse. I guess everyone is just hoping California will do it first as an example and people will see it not die a fiery death

fear of appearing sympathetic is dead on. they had the left locked in (no way in hell would most potheads vote for mccain right?), so they made the smart political play for the remainder of the electorate.

short answers beat long answers because long answers are more prone to being picked apart. its also typically not a smart political play to say one issue is more important than another.

as much as i hate to say it, look for the political game to stay strong. the bullshit is too powerful to disappear overnight (or even over the course of two obama terms). our best hope is a marked decline of the game.

short answers beat long answers because long answers are more prone to being picked apart. its also typically not a smart political play to say one issue is more important than another.
